Best Vacuums For Carpets

On this page, you will see a selection of vacuums best suited for carpets. All the models featured on this page are equipped with a dedicated carpet tool. Carpet tools have a Roller Brush which agitates carpets and removes hair stuck on the carpet Piles. This Roller Brush can be either Air Driven or Motorized.

  • Air Driven (Turbo Brush) Carpet Tools: Best for Low-Medium Pile Carpets with low to moderate amounts of dirt and hair. These carpet tools are Air Driven. That means the roller brush spins by the suction that is created by the vacuum.
  • Motorized Power Heads (Electric Powerheads / Beater Bars): Suitable For any type of carpet regardless of the thickness of the piles and the amount of dirt or hair that has to be removed. With Electric Powerheads, the roller brush is driven by a motor inside the powerhead. This creates more agitation which helps deep clean any type of carpet. This is the reason why vacuums that are equipped with a Powerhead also make great vacuums for people with pets, especially high shedding pets.

When people search for the best vacuum cleaners in Canada, most results are generic list articles ranking machines that were never tested on carpet at all. We only include vacuums with a dedicated carpet tool, picked and stocked because of how they perform on carpet pile and pet hair, not because they suit hard floors too. Every model here also carries the in-house warranty support we've built up over three decades of selling and servicing vacuums across Canada.

The lineup below spans three formats, canister, upright and bagless canister, across Numatic Henry, Sebo and Miele, starting around $418 and topping out near $793. That range covers light apartment carpet through heavier, high-traffic pile, so the right choice comes down to your own carpet and household rather than one universal winner. A 90-day price-match guarantee applies across that price band, so the deciding factor can stay whichever format and carpet tool actually suits your home.

Frequently Asked Questions About Carpet Vacuums in Canada

What is the best vacuum for carpet in Canada?

There isn't one single best vacuum for every carpet. It comes down to your pile height and how much hair or dirt it collects day to day, which is why the table above splits the lineup by format, bag type and price instead of naming one winner. Start with your budget, then narrow down by format.

Is a canister or an upright a better fit for carpeted stairs?

Canisters tend to be easier on stairs since you carry a light hose and head up each step instead of the whole machine. Uprights are typically better suited to large, open carpeted rooms where you can push them in long strokes. If your home is mostly stairs and hallways, start with the canister rows in the table above.

My carpet has a thick pile and I have two shedding dogs, which format should I look at?

Look toward a motorized power head rather than an air-driven turbo brush. The motor drives the roller brush regardless of pile height, which matters once shedding hair and thick pile are both working against suction alone. The Sebo Automatic X7 and Felix 1 lines in the table above are upright models built around that kind of powerhead.

How much should I budget for a carpet vacuum that will hold up over years of use?

The carpet-specific models we stock start around $418 and run up to about $793, with the difference mostly coming down to capacity and whether it's a canister or upright design. Our 90-day price-match guarantee applies across that range, so the deciding factor can stay format and fit rather than price alone.

Can I still get parts and repairs for these models after the warranty ends?

Yes. We're an authorized Miele and Sebo service centre and handle repairs and replacement parts like belts, bags and powerhead brushes in-house, so a model bought here isn't limited to whatever warranty came in the box.
