What are the Best Vacuum Cleaners For Hardwood Floors?

A quick google search brings up quite a few websites, not all, but most of these sites seem to suggest anything from a cheap upright vacuum to an overpriced canister and anything in between. These suggestions usually lead unsuspecting people to a product page on Amazon where the author of the article will get a commission on whatever product you purchase. Smart. But, only if the products that were suggested were genuinely suitable, good quality vacuum cleaners that were meant for hardwood floors.

Aren't we hoping you would consider purchasing a vacuum from us? Absolutely. But let's at least provide some half decent sound advice while we're at it.

Let's get to it. If you are like most people who are looking for a vacuum cleaner for hardwood floors, you, more than likely, also own a few area rugs which also need cleaning.

There are 2 categories of vacuum cleaner models that are suitable for Hardwood floors. (We know you may also have some ceramic, tile, vinyl or other types of Hard Floors, but for the purpose of this blog, those can all be categorized under Hardwood floors).

1. Vacuum Cleaners that are equipped with a Combination Floor Tool capable to handle both hardwood floors and low pile (flat) rugs or carpets.

2. Vacuum Cleaners that are equipped with a Bare Floor Tool meant specifically for Hardwood floors and a Carpet Tool meant for the rugs and carpets.

The advantage of having a combination tool is that this floor tool handles both hardwood and rugs with the flip of a rocker switch, therefore, you don't have to change attachments from one surface to another. This is great for people who just cant be bothered with changing the vacuum attachments or people who also own a couple of low pile flat rugs with minimal traffic and hair to remove from the rugs.

The advantage of these models is having specialized tools for each type of floor. You get the best of the both worlds. You get the Best Floor Tools For the hardwood floors with long bristles and an easy to maneuver neck, and a dedicated Caret Tool for the Rugs and Carpets. Now, because these models are meant for homes with a majority of hardwood floors and only some area rugs, the dedicated carpet tools are not motorized. They are Air Driven. That means, they are best suited for low to medium pile Rugs and Carpets with moderate amount of hair and dirt. These vacuum cleaners are not meant for homes that have a lot of wall to wall carpets and a lot of hair to remove.
