The Miele Guard S1 Parquet Flex is Miele's lightest canister vacuum, equipped for homes with hardwood, tile, and other delicate hard floors. It adds the natural-bristle Parquet Twister brush and an extra-long flexible crevice tool to an 11-lb body, so you clean your floors gently and still reach the gaps other vacuums miss.

  Yes. The Parquet Twister uses natural bristles and has no motorized brush roll, so it sweeps hard floors gently, and its twister neck lets you steer around furniture instead of dragging the head sideways.
• What is the flexible crevice tool for?
  The SFD 20 is an extra-long nozzle that bends, so you can feed it into narrow gaps: behind radiators, between appliances and cabinets, down the sides of furniture, and along baseboards.
• Does it work on carpets and rugs?
  On looped carpets and thin, flat rugs, yes: use the combination floor tool's rug setting. Neither included tool is a dedicated carpet tool, so it's not suited to medium or deep pile.
• Can it handle pet hair?
  Low amounts. It handles hair from a low-shedding pet on bare floors and flat rugs, but heavy shedding or hair worked into carpet calls for a machine with a dedicated carpet tool.
